Girls' Generation's Seohyun to Perform as Special Guest at Seoul Concert Amid Controversy
On October 9, Seohyun posted a photo on her Instagram story with the caption, "Less than a week left," showing her running with a violin case on her back.
Seohyun is set to perform as a special guest at the 'Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra's 8th Regular Concert' on October 13 at 8 PM at the Lotte Concert Hall in Songpa-gu, Seoul.
Known as a beginner violinist, Seohyun's participation in the concert is part of an effort to make classical music more accessible, a cause she supports. However, some netizens have criticized her involvement as celebrity favoritism and an unfair opportunity.
In response, Jeong-sook, a participant from the 13th season of the reality show 'I Am Solo' and an organist, shared her perspective on the controversy via social media. She stated, "The orchestra is amateur, and Seohyun must have practiced a lot for the performance. Her involvement could introduce classical music to new audiences, which is a form of popularization."
Jeong-sook further commented, "Thinking that only traditional paths are valid is quite outdated," expressing her support for Seohyun.
Born in 1991, Seohyun is 34 years old. She debuted with Girls' Generation in 2007 and expanded her career into acting in 2016. Besides the violin, she has a keen interest and considerable skill in playing the piano.
