Shinhwa's Kim Dong-wan Addresses Controversy Over Legalizing Prostitution
Shinhwa member and actor Kim Dong-wan has spoken out following his controversial remarks on legalizing prostitution.

Kim took to his social media to share, "I've been receiving a lot of calls from elders and seniors lately, so I'm writing this," adding, "Don't worry too much. I just said what I wanted to say." This statement comes in response to his previous comments advocating for the legalization of prostitution.

On the 17th, Kim Dong-wan had stated, "In trying to eliminate red-light districts, the entire country has become one. Seeing these areas near churches, schools, and police stations raises questions." He argued for the legalization of prostitution.

He further explained, "We need to acknowledge and manage it. With the increasing number of single-person households, we can't just ignore the issue." He also mentioned, "The reason I believe it should be legalized is that some people can't do without paying for it. It's also a matter of disease control," which sparked significant controversy.

As the debate continued, Kim Dong-wan released a second statement on the 20th. He expressed, "What I'm concerned about is the influx of minors, lack of disease control, and exploitation within illegal structures," adding, "Ignoring reality without protection and management can be seen as avoiding responsibility while preaching morality."
