Korean Star Jang Young-ran Shares Her Near Miss with Voice Phishing Scam
In a recent video titled '(Real Situation) Jang Young-ran's Tearful Confession After Being Scammed for Millions' on her YouTube channel 'A-Class Jang Young-ran,' she shared her experience.
Jang confessed, "I almost fell victim to voice phishing, but I couldn't bring myself to tell my husband." She explained that one day, someone claiming to be a friend of her stylist contacted her, saying they were living well after marrying a Thai prince. However, the person later claimed to have become disabled and asked to borrow 1 million won (approximately $850). Jang admitted, "I felt something was off, but I couldn't cut them off because they were a friend of my stylist," revealing that she was pressured for money for nine months.
As Jang debated whether to send the money, the scammer even sent an ID photo, claiming, "You can trust me." It turned out the ID belonged to a deceased person.
Her husband, Han Chang, was shocked and speechless upon learning about the incident. Fortunately, Jang confirmed, "I didn't send any money."
