MBC Weathercaster Geum Chae-rim Departs Amid Reflections on Career and Colleague's Tragic Death

Geum Chae-rim, a weathercaster at MBC, has announced her departure from the network. Geum was a colleague of the late Oh Yo-anna, an MBC weathercaster who tragically passed away due to workplace harassment.

On October 8, Geum shared on her social media account, "Last Friday (October 6) marked my final day delivering the weather as a weathercaster. During my nearly five years at MBC, I always approached the camera with joy and excitement to share the weather with you," confirming her resignation.

She continued, "I have no regrets as I gave my best to every broadcast, from special reports during disasters to early morning shows. However, it's honest to say that I feel a sense of emptiness and regret knowing that the work and career I loved are coming to an end."

Geum expressed her hopes for the future, stating, "Nevertheless, I hope this conclusion marks a new beginning. I will greet you again with a new image. I sincerely thank the seniors and directors who supported me until my last broadcast. I wish everyone health and happiness in the new year."

Oh Yo-anna passed away in September 2024 at the age of 28. A 17-page suicide note was found on her phone, detailing the suffering she endured due to workplace harassment.
