Cha Eun-woo and Fantagio Address Tax Evasion Allegations Amidst Growing Controversy
Singer and actor Cha Eun-woo, embroiled in a tax evasion controversy involving approximately 20 billion won, has publicly apologized to his fans on October 8th, confirming that he has settled his tax dues. In response to the escalating issue, his agency, Fantagio, has also released an official statement regarding the recent tax-related allegations.

The controversy extended beyond Cha Eun-woo to include allegations of tax evasion during actor Kim Seon-ho's tenure with his previous agency. Fantagio stated, "We deeply apologize for causing concern due to the tax-related controversies involving our company and affiliated artists. We acknowledge this issue as a significant problem stemming from our lack of management responsibility."

The agency further explained, "As a company responsible for managing and supporting the overall activities of our artists, we failed to adequately inspect the matter in advance and recognize shortcomings in our management process. We are currently conducting a comprehensive review of our internal management system and decision-making processes, strengthening pre-verification procedures, including tax and legal reviews, to implement substantial improvements." They added, "As we operate based on public trust, we will deeply reflect on this matter and respond with responsible changes."

Kim Seon-ho, also under Fantagio, faced allegations after it was revealed that he had established a family corporation, 'SH2', in January 2024 and received settlement payments from his previous agency. Kim Seon-ho has since announced his decision to close the one-person corporation.

Cha Eun-woo addressed the issue on his social media, stating, "I sincerely apologize for disappointing and confusing many people, including my fans, due to the tax controversy related to me. I respect the procedures and results of the National Tax Service and have paid all related taxes to prevent further confusion." He continued, "During a period of various changes and confusion in my activities, I established a corporation to continue my activities more stably. However, looking back, I realize there were parts I did not thoroughly examine, and I believe the responsibility lies with me, not my family or company."
