Former Lovelyz Member Lee Mi-joo Sheds Tears in Her Acting Debut

Lee Mi-joo, formerly of the K-pop group Lovelyz, was moved to tears during her first acting lesson.

On the 16th, the YouTube channel 'Just Lee Mi-joo' released a video titled 'The Boyfriend Who Ghosted Me Has Returned.'

In the video, Lee Mi-joo embarked on her first acting class. She shared, "My goal this year is to try things I've never done before. I once tried acting in a skit. I've always wanted to act, but never had the opportunity. I want to test my potential."

Meeting with actor and acting coach Lee Yong-jik, she excitedly recalled, "I played the female lead in INFINITE's 'Last Romeo' during my trainee days. I debuted as an actress, I'm an actress from my trainee days."

When asked about roles she would like to try, Lee Mi-joo expressed her interest in playing a murderer or a character who dies from an arrow in a historical drama.

Complimented on her "high-class" looks, Lee Mi-joo reflected, "When I was younger and active with Lovelyz, I used to draw my eyeliner all the way to my temples. As I got older, I wore less makeup, and I think my face improved." Lee Yong-jik commented, "You have an actress's face. It came with age."

Lee Yong-jik explained, "Acting is not something you learn, but something you draw out from within." As the acting practice began, Lee Mi-joo was initially over-expressive, prompting a stern reminder to "be serious and not joke around."

During a script reading for 'Waiting for Gyeongdo,' Lee Mi-joo struggled with understanding character relationships but managed to portray a reunited lover after a breakup without hesitation. When asked to improvise, she became so emotionally immersed that she shed tears, exclaiming, "Why am I crying? I must be crazy," drawing attention.

Impressed by her unexpected acting skills, Lee Yong-jik remarked, "I thought she was just a light-hearted friend from variety shows, but she's like a diamond mine. There seems to be something hidden. I want to help her grow."

After her first acting class, Lee Mi-joo expressed, "Acting is fun," and humorously commented on her 'script comprehension,' saying, "I tried to do well, but when the boyfriend's attitude changed, I felt sad. The teacher didn't give me time to interpret. I need a few hours," bringing laughter.
