Actress Chae Shi-ra has paid tribute to the late actor Ahn Sung-ki.

Chae Shi-ra took to her Instagram to share a nostalgic post featuring a cover photo from the inaugural issue of Korea's first film weekly magazine, 'Cine21,' where she appeared alongside Ahn Sung-ki. Reflecting on the past, she expressed her sorrow, saying, "I can't help but feel heartbroken... I had the opportunity to work with Ahn Sung-ki, who graced the cover of the inaugural issue of 'Cine21' with me, on two or three projects. I am grateful to have left a mark with him in Director Yoo Hyun-mok's film 'Sea Anemone' through a special appearance. I also had the honor of being the host and reading the eulogy at the director's funeral, and attended a mass at Myeongdong Cathedral during Pope Francis's visit to Korea... Every time I saw him, his kind expression seemed unchanged... I pray for his soul."

Ahn Sung-ki passed away on the morning of the 5th at the age of 74. He collapsed at home on December 30th last year while eating, with food obstructing his airway. Despite receiving CPR and being rushed to a nearby hospital's emergency room, he remained in a coma in the intensive care unit and never regained consciousness.

It was revealed that Ahn Sung-ki had been battling blood cancer until his death. He was diagnosed with the disease in 2019 and was declared cancer-free in 2020 after treatment. However, the illness recurred six months later during follow-up observations.
