Singer Ailee has expressed her desire to move away from her 'Ex-Boyfriend Slayer' image.

On October 24, Ailee appeared on KBS Cool FM's 'Oh My Girl Hyojung's Raise the Volume' to discuss her new mini-album '(Me)moir' and its title track 'MMI'. She explained, "The song 'Me Myself and I' conveys the message that loving oneself is more important than any other love." Ailee added, "I want to be known as a guardian of self-esteem rather than an expert in breakup anthems."

During the show, Ailee shared behind-the-scenes details of the recording process, revealing, "The song wasn't originally mine. Producer Pdogg played it for me, asking, 'What do you think of this style?' I immediately said, 'I'm going to record this now,' and laid down the guide track in 15-20 minutes." She expressed her excitement, saying, "I was grateful to work on a pop R&B track that I love, and it felt thrilling to showcase music that truly represents me."

Ailee also recounted her experience working with producer Pdogg, stating, "We recorded at HYBE, and it was my first time needing to show ID to enter a studio. They even covered my phone camera with a sticker for security reasons. It was a fun experience, and it felt like being part of a massive project."

Regarding the '(Me)moir' album, Ailee said, "I wanted it to be an album that brings comfort. The songs are easy to listen to at any time—whether you're driving, cleaning, or waking up in the morning."

She concluded by sharing, "After doing music for a long time, there are moments when it feels more like work than passion, and the joy seems to fade. But working on this album was incredibly enjoyable and fulfilling." Ailee performed her new song 'MMI' live and shared stories behind other tracks like 'Illusion' and 'Meaning'. She also interacted with fans, answering their questions in real-time.

Ailee's new track 'MMI' is a hip-hop R&B song with a Miami beat, focusing on self-reflection with a playful and witty narrative. The song's catchy melody and Ailee's powerful vocals enhance its refreshing vibe.

Meanwhile, Ailee is set to marry Choi Si-hoon, an actor-turned-entrepreneur who appeared on Netflix's 'Single's Inferno', on April 20.
