SEVENTEEN Lights Up Empire State Building
“We hope our sincere support for the bright future of young people around the world reaches each and every one of them.”
The group SEVENTEEN (S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, The8, Mingyu, DK, Seungkwan, Vernon, Dino) illuminated New York's iconic Empire State Building in their signature colors, expressing this sentiment. On the 28th (local time), the exterior lights of the Empire State Building were lit in SEVENTEEN's symbolic colors, Rose Quartz and Serenity. This event commemorated the release of their 12th mini-album 'SPILL THE FEELS' and their ongoing 'SEVENTEEN [RIGHT HERE] WORLD TOUR IN US' across major North American cities. SEVENTEEN members Joshua, Mingyu, DK, Vernon, and Dino attended the lighting ceremony held in the afternoon. UNESCO, which appointed SEVENTEEN as its first youth goodwill ambassadors, also participated, adding significance to the event.
Vernon, speaking on behalf of the members, said, “It is a great honor to attend the Empire State Building lighting ceremony. It is even more so as a UNESCO youth goodwill ambassador,” and added, “I am thrilled to see the Empire State Building shining in SEVENTEEN's symbolic colors. I hope everyone, including our beloved CARATs (fan club name), enjoys today's event.”
Eliot Minchenberg, Director of the UNESCO New York Liaison Office, stated, “SEVENTEEN has not only brought joy through their music but also empowered young people worldwide,” emphasizing, “Like the lyrics of 'Shining Diamond,' they have given countless young people the belief that they can shine and grow like diamonds.”
The lighting ceremony attracted major local media outlets such as Reuters, New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Billboard, and Rolling Stone, showcasing intense media coverage. Social media was flooded with photos of the lighting uploaded by global fans who visited New York to see SEVENTEEN, as well as local citizens and tourists. Meanwhile, New York was bustling with SEVENTEEN and global CARATs who visited the city to see them. The SEVENTEEN world tour 'SEVENTEEN [RIGHT HERE] WORLD TOUR IN US' held at UBS Arena on the 25th and 27th was sold out early, and fan events in Manhattan's Soho district and Times Square heightened the festive atmosphere.
SEVENTEEN is scheduled to perform on the popular morning program 'Good Morning America' on ABC on the 30th. They will continue their world tour in Texas (October 31 and November 1), Oakland (November 5-6), and Los Angeles (November 9-10). A Japan dome tour in November and December and performances in major Asian cities early next year are also planned.
