Astro MJ successfully completed his first musical ‘Winterreise’ after being discharged from the military.
MJ played the main character Han Min-woo in the musical 'Winterreise', which was performed at the KEPCO Arts Center in Seoul for about two months from December 16th of last year to the 23rd of this month, and was on stage for the first time in a musical after being discharged from the military.
MJ, who finished the last performance, said through his agency Fantagio on the 24th, “After being discharged from the military, I met a work called ‘Winterreise’ and took on the character of Han Min-woo, and I think I was able to grow another step further. “When I was practicing, my seniors always gave me a lot of advice and kindly taught me, which was a great help in helping me grow,” he said.
He then expressed his gratitude to the fans, saying, "I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the fans who supported me and came to see the performance, and if I have the opportunity in the future, I would like to greet you through many works."
'Winterreise' is a musical adaptation of the novel of the same name by the late Choi In-ho, a master of modern Korean literature. It depicts the heartbreaking love and innocence of lost youth that everyone has dreamed of at least once. In the drama, MJ played the role of Han Min-woo, who went from being an innocent medical student to becoming corrupted by the secret of his birth.
MJ expressed Han Min-woo's turbulent life with his delicate acting skills. Starting with the thrilling romance of falling in love for the first time, it portrayed in depth the character's gradual transformation into despair, drawing the audience's attention. The number performed with MJ's solid vocals also left a lasting impression.
MJ is Astro's main vocalist and musical actor. In musicals, following 'Jamie' and 'Jack the Ripper', he showed further growth in his capabilities with 'Winterreise'.
