Park Ji-yoon and Choi Dong-seok broke up after 14 years of marriage.
On the 31st, Park Ji-yoon's agency, JDB Entertainment, said, "It is true that Park Ji-yoon filed for divorce mediation with the Jeju District Court on October 30 through her legal representative, Kimjang Law Firm."
Park Ji-yoon announced through her agency that she is in the process of divorce. Park Ji-yoon said, “I feel sorry for delivering bad news to those who have watched and cared for me, Choi Dong-seok, and our family for a long time.” He continued, "After much thought, I have decided to proceed with the divorce mediation process with Mr. Choi Dong-seok. I am sorry that it became known before the divorce process was completed smoothly, but I hope that we can support each other in our respective positions as parents of the children. “I hope so,” he said.
Park Ji-yoon said, "I don't want children who will be hurt by a sudden incident from their parents to be hurt twice by unconfirmed words and writing. Accordingly, in the future, I will take strong action against the spread of rumors and false facts that harm the personal information of my two children and others. “It’s planned,” he said, worried about the children. He continued, “I have been communicating with you through various channels for a long time, but I have never felt as difficult to speak out as I have today, and I don’t think it will ever be so in the future.” He added, “I would like to apologize once again for not being able to share good news during difficult times.” He added, “I will repay you with better works and activities as a broadcaster in the future, and as a mother of two children, I will try to pour more love and effort.”
Park Ji-yoon and Choi Dong-seok, who met at the same time as KBS's 30th announcer, got married in 2009 after four years of dating. Currently, they have one daughter and one son.
Park Ji-yoon left the company in 2008 and is currently working as a freelancer, and Choi Dong-seok has been the anchor of KBS1's 'News 9' since 2019, but left the news program for health reasons and resigned from KBS in 2021.
