'Kim Dong-hyun's junior' Kim Sang-wook received death threats... Suspect sentenced to 3 years in prison
A man who wielded a weapon against mixed martial artist Kim Sang-wook has been sentenced to prison.

According to the legal community on the 8th, the Seoul Central District Court Criminal Agreement Division 29 (Chief Judge Kim Seung-jeong) sentenced Mr. A to three years in prison for charges such as attempted murder.

Mr. A is accused of attempting to kill Sang-wook Kim, who was trying to return home from a martial arts gym in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul in April of last year, by wielding a weapon several times.

Mr. A, who was a student of Kim Sang-wook, was investigated for committing the crime because he thought he was bullied and ignored while learning martial arts.

Mr. A was also accused of assaulting a police officer in a police detention center, and pouring hot water on a fellow detainee in a detention center about a month later.

Standing in court, Mr. A insisted that he had no intention of killing Mr. Kim, but the court judged that there was an intention to kill by integrating the previously prepared weapon and wounds.

The judge pointed out that “if Mr. Kim had not defended in a timely manner, the result of losing his life could have occurred” and “severe punishment is inevitable.”

However, judging from the results of the evaluation by the doctor at the National Judicial Hospital, it was judged that Mr. A committed the crime in a state of mental and physical weakness, and considering the risk of recidivism, he was also ordered to provide treatment.
