Director Na Hong-jin's latest film 'HOPE' has been invited to compete at the 79th Cannes Film Festival, and six captivating stills have been released, showcasing the film's intense visuals.
'HOPE' tells the story of Beom-seok, the head of the Hoport Office located in the Demilitarized Zone, who hears from local youths about a tiger sighting. As the entire village is thrown into a state of emergency, they encounter an unbelievable reality. Following its invitation to the Cannes competition, the film has secured a North American release through distributor NEON.
The newly released stills offer a glimpse into the mise-en-scène and style of 'HOPE'. Captured moments include Beom-seok (played by Hwang Jung-min) seen through a foggy window, Seong-gi (played by Jo In-sung) aiming a gun in a dense forest, and Seong-ae (played by Jung Ho-yeon) in a tense moment with a gun in a destroyed village. These images heighten anticipation with the film's unique visual storytelling.
The stills from 'HOPE' intrigue viewers by showcasing the vivid portrayals of characters facing an incredible reality in Hoport. Beom-seok, armed and taking cover behind a broken wall, Seong-gi making an emergency call, and Seong-ae witnessing something shocking from a police car, all transform into the residents of Hoport fighting to protect their village, capturing attention with new performances by Hwang Jung-min, Jo In-sung, and Jung Ho-yeon.
Director Na Hong-jin's long-awaited project 'HOPE' will have its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival this May and is set to hit theaters this summer.
