Emotional Brotherhood Unveiled in JTBC's 'Fighting Against Worthlessness'

The heartfelt brotherhood between Hwang Dong-man (Koo Kyo-hwan) and Hwang Jin-man (Park Hae-joon) in JTBC's weekend drama 'Fighting Against Worthlessness' (hereafter 'FAW') deeply resonates with viewers. Hwang Jin-man, who once viewed his brother Dong-man as a disappointment for neglecting responsibilities while indulging in movies, is revealed to be the one fiercely defending him against their uncle and a group of bullies.

In the third episode, a poignant backstory of Hwang Jin-man was unveiled. Dong-man found his brother in a precarious situation, standing on a high place in the bathroom with a rope. With a heavy heart, Dong-man calmly persuaded his brother to come down, showcasing his familiarity with such incidents. He read one of Jin-man's poems from his days as a promising poet, but Jin-man's eyes remained vacant, and his fists clenched tightly. Dong-man's desperate attempts to feed his brother, who only drank alcohol, highlighted the emotional depth of their relationship.

In the upcoming fourth episode airing on the 26th, the ongoing childish feud between Dong-man and Park Kyung-se (Oh Jung-se) is set to escalate. Dong-man, who can't stand others' success and revels in their failures, clashes with Kyung-se, who loses his composure at Dong-man's provocations. This dynamic adds a humorous element to 'FAW'. Dong-man's conflict with the charismatic leader of the group, Go Hye-jin (Kang Mal-geum), results in his ban from their hideout, further straining his relationship with Kyung-se.

The catalyst for this tension was the failure of Kyung-se's new film 'The Armless Second Sister', which flopped despite free ticket promotions. Discovering that a third of the negative reviews came from Dong-man, who had never made a film, Kyung-se exploded in anger, calling Dong-man 'nothing'.

Jin-man's appearance heightens the tension, as he previously declared, 'Brothers are not alone! Dong-man is not lonely,' sharing the fate of being banned from the hideout. Will Jin-man return as a supportive ally or as the tough-love brother offering harsh truths? Viewers are eager to find out.
