Rising Star Moon Seong-hyun Takes on First Theater Role in 'Dead Poets Society'
Moon Seong-hyun, a promising actor born in 2006, is set to make his theater debut with 'Dead Poets Society' following his 2021 debut. Known as a 'Daechi Kid' for his education in the Daechi-dong area of Gangnam, Seoul, Moon has already captured attention. In 2023, he portrayed a young version of Kang Dong-won in the film 'The Ghost Station: Secret of the Snowy Field' and has played younger versions of various actors like Kim Young-dae, Hwang Min-hyun, Yoo Yeon-seok, Kim Soo-hyun, Ji Chang-wook, and Kim Young-kwang.

The play 'Dead Poets Society' is set in 1959 America at the prestigious Welton Academy, known for its strict rules and traditions. The story follows new English teacher John Keating, who inspires students to embrace the motto 'Carpe Diem (Seize the Day)' amidst pressures of academic success. The play is based on the film of the same name.

In the play, Moon Seong-hyun takes on the role of Todd Anderson, a shy and introverted boy living in his brother's shadow, who discovers his inner strength. Moon is expected to deliver a moving performance, showcasing Todd's growth with his characteristic nuanced acting.

Moon Seong-hyun has demonstrated stable acting skills across dramas, films, and OTT platforms. Notable works include dramas like 'Under the Queen's Umbrella', 'Reborn Rich', 'Beauty and the Pure-hearted Man', 'The Chairman is Grade 9', 'Gangnam B-Side', 'Wonkyung', 'Trigger', and films like 'The Ghost Station: Secret of the Snowy Field' and 'Fragment'. He also showcased his versatility as an MC on SBS's 'Inkigayo' until last year. With his first venture into theater, anticipation builds for his future endeavors.

Moon Seong-hyun's confirmed appearance in 'Dead Poets Society' will run from July 18 to September 13 at the NOL Theater, Woori Card Hall in Daehak-ro.
