Ahn Hyo-seop Returns as a Farmer in New Drama 'Onmaejin'

Actor Ahn Hyo-seop shares his thoughts on returning as a farmer after 'Lion Boys'.

On the 15th, a press conference for SBS's new Wednesday-Thursday drama 'Onmaejin' was held at SBS Hall in Mok-dong, Yangcheon-gu, Seoul. The event was attended by director Ahn Jong-yeon and actors Ahn Hyo-seop, Chae Won-bin, and Kim Bum.

'Onmaejin' is a romantic comedy that follows the story of perfectionist farmer Matthew Lee (played by Ahn Hyo-seop) and sell-out show host Dam Ye-jin (played by Chae Won-bin) as they become entangled day and night.

Ahn Hyo-seop's character, Matthew Lee, is a young farmer in Deokpung Village who juggles farming, raw material development, and management, earning him the nickname 'Quail'. Ahn Hyo-seop explained his choice to join 'Onmaejin' by saying, "After working on emotionally draining projects and contemplating the direction of my life, reading the script for 'Onmaejin' was healing. It was comforting because there were no special villains or grand events."

Following his global hit on Netflix's 'K-Pop Demon Hunters', Ahn Hyo-seop returns with 'Onmaejin'. When asked about his preparation for the role after 'Lion Boys', Ahn emphasized, "I never left 'Lion Boys'. I completed the recording for 'K-Demon Hunters' before filming 'Onmaejin', so I could focus entirely on it. I had to experience a farmer's life, which included driving a cultivator. I practiced hard. The cultivator was my 911 and Huracan," he laughed.

'Onmaejin' premieres on the 22nd at 9 PM.
