Global girl group KATSEYE, under HYBE-Geffen Records, has been nominated for three categories at the prestigious 'American Music Awards' (AMAs), one of the top three music award ceremonies in the United States.
On the 14th (local time), the nominees for the '2026 American Music Awards' were announced. The ceremony is set to take place on May 25th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
KATSEYE is in the running for 'New Artist of the Year,' a top honor for emerging artists, alongside Alex Warren, Olivia Dean, and SOMBR. The competition is expected to be fierce among these rising stars who have made significant impacts across various genres over the past year.
Additionally, KATSEYE's hit song 'Gnarly' has been nominated for 'Best Music Video.' This category features works from global pop icons like Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, and ROSALÍA. Released in April last year, the 'Gnarly' music video gained attention for its psychedelic and experimental direction, coupled with KATSEYE's powerful performance.
KATSEYE is also vying for the 'Breakthrough Pop Artist' award, which highlights artists who have shown remarkable growth and progress in the pop industry. Despite debuting less than two years ago, KATSEYE has already placed three songs—'Gabriela,' 'Internet Girl,' and 'Gnarly'—on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. Their second EP, 'BEAUTIFUL CHAOS,' reached No. 4 on the Billboard 200.
The 'American Music Awards,' alongside the 'Billboard Music Awards' and the 'Grammy Awards,' is considered one of the most significant music award ceremonies in the US. Nominees are selected based on a comprehensive evaluation of streaming, album and song sales, radio airplay, and touring performance. Following their two-category nomination at the 68th Grammy Awards, KATSEYE continues to make a strong impression at the AMAs.
KATSEYE debuted in the US based on HYBE's 'K-pop methodology.' They recently released a new single, 'PINKY UP,' on the 9th and performed for the first time at the 'Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival' on the 10th, signaling a wave of popularity.
