The drama 'Shining', starring singer and actor Park Jin-young and Kim Min-ju, continues to struggle with low ratings.
In JTBC's Friday series 'Shining', the story of Yeon Tae-seo (played by Park Jin-young) and Mo Eun-ah (played by Kim Min-ju), who face a second separation despite their feelings for each other, leaves a lingering impression. Unreleased cuts from episodes 7 and 8, capturing heart-wrenching moments, have been revealed. The 6th episode, aired on the 20th of last month, recorded a 0.9% viewership rating, marking the lowest for JTBC's Friday dramas and the first time it fell below 1% since its solo Friday slot. The most recent episode 8 recorded a 0.8% rating.
After rekindling their love after 10 years, Yeon Tae-seo and Mo Eun-ah seemed to be each other's light once again, but a momentary misalignment cooled everything down. Yeon Tae-seo, going through a tough time due to his grandmother's illness, witnessed Mo Eun-ah with her ex-boyfriend Bae Sung-chan (played by Shin Jae-ha). With a broken heart, Yeon Tae-seo eventually said goodbye, and Mo Eun-ah, who understood his situation better than anyone, couldn't hold him back.
The released photos capture the temperature difference between the two, who faced a lonely winter from an emotional autumn.
Yeon Tae-seo, busy traveling between Seoul and Yeonwoo-ri due to his family's illness, and Mo Eun-ah, who went down to Tongyeong to wrap up her past stay, reflect the frustration and bitterness of their growing distance. Yeon Tae-seo's affectionate gaze at Mo Eun-ah and his visit to Tongyeong despite his tight schedule highlight how special Mo Eun-ah is to him.
A secret Mo Eun-ah kept to herself for 10 years also draws attention. As a hotel intern, Mo Eun-ah found something she wanted to do and inadvertently ended things with Yeon Tae-seo by suggesting they not force their schedules to match. Later, upon hearing about Yeon Tae-seo's military enlistment, Mo Eun-ah collapsed in the snow, her face filled with regret over an irreversible choice.
A pivotal scene that led to their breakup adds to the heartbreak. Yeon Tae-seo, sitting in his car in a daze after learning about Mo Eun-ah and Bae Sung-chan being together, conveys unresolved complex emotions. Meanwhile, Mo Eun-ah, sitting down after Yeon Tae-seo leaves, exudes deep sadness and frustration.
'Shining' will air two consecutive episodes on the 3rd of next month at 8:50 PM.
