JTBC's upcoming weekend drama 'Fighting Worthlessness' (shortened as 'FW') has released a 'power poster' featuring Koo Kyo-hwan and Go Yoon-jung, who are set to energize each other in their battle against feelings of worthlessness. Earlier this year, Go Yoon-jung starred in 'Is This Love Translatable?' alongside Kim Seon-ho, who is 10 years her senior. Now, she is set to showcase healing chemistry with Koo Kyo-hwan, who is 14 years her senior.
Directed by Cha Young-hoon and written by Park Hae-young, 'FW' is produced by Studio Phoenix, SLL, and Studio Flow. The drama follows the journey of individuals struggling with jealousy and frustration amidst successful friends, as they seek peace. Hwang Dong-man (played by Koo Kyo-hwan), who has dreamed of becoming a film director for 20 years, and Byun Eun-ah (played by Go Yoon-jung), known as the 'Axe PD' at Choi Film, become each other's 'clean zone,' transforming worthlessness into radiant value with their green light synergy. The poster, which shows them silently supporting each other, raises expectations that they will replenish each other's depleted 'power.'
In front of the Eight People Club hideout, Hwang Dong-man and Byun Eun-ah appear exhausted, as if they've used up all their energy for the day. The poster's tagline, "Do you know where to buy power?" resonates deeply, as it reflects a common fantasy for those enduring life with depleted energy.
Hwang Dong-man, who has been stagnant for 20 years, and Byun Eun-ah, who carries past traumas, become sources of 'power' for each other. Hwang Dong-man, who talks incessantly to erase his anxiety, learns to be still for the first time in front of Byun Eun-ah, who listens attentively. His transparent energy, with 'a thousand doors' open in his heart, helps heal Byun Eun-ah's wounds. 'FW' is expected to serve as a battery that recharges all of us through the process of these two individuals filling each other's voids.
The production team stated, "Hwang Dong-man and Byun Eun-ah carry their own deficiencies, but through each other, they replenish their drained energy." They added, "We hope viewers will gain a brilliant 'power' that transforms worthlessness into value through the sincere and supportive journey of these two individuals who desperately need power."
'FW' is a collaboration between writer Park Hae-young, known for crafting the noblest sentences from life's lowest emotions, and director Cha Young-hoon, who captures the extraordinary solidarity of ordinary people, showcasing warm humanism. The drama premieres on April 18 at 10:40 PM on JTBC.
