Chef Park Eun-young is set to take viewers on a culinary journey from Daerim Central Market to her mentor Chef Yeo Kyung-rae's 'Hongbogak'.
On the upcoming episode of MBC's variety show 'The Manager' (directed by Kang Young-sun, Kim Yoon-jib, Jeon Jae-wook, Kim Hae-ni, Jung Dong-sik, Lee Da-woon, writer Yeo Hyun-jeon), airing on the 28th, Chef Park Eun-young, who previously garnered attention by revealing her first independent restaurant in 15 years and attracting 7,000 real-time app searches, will share a special holiday.
Known for her passion for exploring new ingredients, Park Eun-young, along with head chef Yoon Joon-won, visits Daerim Central Market, often referred to as 'Little China in Korea'. They are greeted by exotic ingredients such as pig snouts, hearts, yellow chives, and preserved duck eggs. With a gleam in her eye, reminiscent of her dance moves, Park Eun-young fearlessly tastes and crafts recipes on the spot, showcasing her genius as a chef.
Park Eun-young then visits 'Hongbogak', the restaurant of her mentor Chef Yeo Kyung-rae, reaffirming their strong mentor-mentee bond. Chef Yeo's eldest son, Chef Yeo Min, who has shared a sibling-like relationship with Park Eun-young over the years, also makes an appearance. Their playful banter and seamless teamwork in the kitchen captivate the audience as they quickly prepare a staff meal. Additionally, heartwarming stories from the 'Hongbogak Dream Team' era, including Chef Yeo Min's care for Park Eun-young during an injury, are shared.
The episode also delves into Chef Yeo Kyung-rae's early days in the culinary world, revealing that his first salary was a mere 6,000 won. He recalls running to the butcher for meat when sweet and sour pork orders came in due to the lack of a refrigerator in the kitchen. His method of learning recipes by observing and sketching them to pass on to juniors is also highlighted. Park Eun-young engages in a 'carving' competition with the Hongbogak chefs, impressing everyone by swiftly transforming a carrot into a stunning carnation.
Catch this episode on Saturday, the 28th, at 11:10 PM on MBC's 'The Manager'.
