Kim Dong-wan, a member of the group Shinhwa, has issued an apology after publicly supporting MC Ding Dong, which has sparked further controversy following revelations from a person claiming to be his former manager.
On the 21st, Kim Dong-wan posted on his personal social media, "Who will support Ding Dong for no reason?" tagging MC Ding Dong's account. The post was interpreted as support for MC Ding Dong, who has been criticized for a recent clash with a female co-host. Facing backlash, Kim Dong-wan deleted the post and apologized.
MC Ding Dong had previously caused a stir when a live internet broadcast showed him in a confrontation with a female participant. He explained that he was emotionally charged at the time but is considering legal action against reports he claims are inaccurate.
Amidst this, a post by someone claiming to be Kim Dong-wan's former manager has circulated online, adding fuel to the fire. The writer introduced themselves as a long-time employee of Kim Dong-wan, listing past incidents. They claimed, "There were instances of him conducting live broadcasts while intoxicated or engaging in arguments with fans," and added, "Despite interventions, he refused to change his behavior."
The writer also criticized Kim Dong-wan's professional conduct, stating, "He once requested a musical role to increase his fee but later reversed his decision, putting the production team in a difficult position."
The true identity of the writer and the veracity of their claims remain unverified. Given the one-sided nature of the allegations, there are calls for careful fact-checking.
Kim Dong-wan has previously faced criticism for comments on social issues. Recently, he was criticized for remarks related to prostitution, and in 2021, he apologized after defending singer Lee Soo.
