'The King and the Man' Surpasses 13.72 Million Viewers, Set to Overtake 'Frozen 2'

The film 'The King and the Man' directed by Jang Hang-jun has surpassed 13.72 million viewers. Considering the real-time ticket sales, 'The King and the Man' is poised to surpass 'Frozen 2'.

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated computer network, 'The King and the Man' maintained its number one position at the box office on the 17th. It recorded a daily audience of 120,449 and a cumulative audience of 13,722,161. Ranked 7th in all-time box office hits, 'The King and the Man' needs just about 40,000 more viewers to surpass 'Frozen 2' (2019, 13.76 million) and enter the 6th position.

'The King and the Man' became the 34th film in history to reach 10 million viewers on the 6th. The film is set in 1457 Cheongryeongpo and tells the story of a village chief who voluntarily exiles himself for the prosperity of the village and a young dethroned king in exile. The film stars Yoo Hae-jin, Park Ji-hoon, Yoo Ji-tae, and Jeon Mi-do.

However, as of 8:30 AM on the 18th, 'Project Hail Mary' leads the real-time reservation rate with 40.7%, surpassing 'The King and the Man' at 28.8%. Despite being second in reservation rate, 'The King and the Man' has sold well over 100,000 tickets.

The second spot at the box office is held by the animation 'Hoppers' directed by Daniel Chong. 'Hoppers' attracted a daily audience of 8,474 and a cumulative audience of 547,820.

'Hoppers' is a Pixar animal adventure where a girl named Mabel, transformed into a robot beaver through the 'hopping' technology that transfers human consciousness into animal robots, embarks on an unexpected adventure in a world full of surprises.

In third place is 'Samakdo' directed by Chae Ki-jun, with a daily audience of 4,558 and a cumulative audience of 65,627. 'Samakdo' depicts a prophecy surrounding a cult that vanished after the Japanese occupation and the hell witnessed in a sealed village.

Elsewhere, 'Humint' directed by Ryu Seung-wan is in fourth place, and 'Pride and Prejudice' directed by Joe Wright is in fifth.
