Korean singer Kang Soo-ji, 59, has recently become a topic of interest after sharing her weight loss journey following her new running routine.
On October 18, Kang Soo-ji uploaded a video titled "Why Aren't You Tired These Days?" on her YouTube channel 'Kang Soo-ji TV: Living, Loving, Learning.' In the video, she opened up about her recent decision to start running.
"Some of you might wonder why someone as slim as me would start running," she said. "But being thin and having good stamina are completely different things." She continued, "It's been 191 days since I started running, and my husband was surprised, saying, 'You don't seem tired these days. Is it magic?'"
Kang Soo-ji revealed that she only missed three days of running in the past 191 days, regardless of the weather or her mood. "I started running at a speed of 4.5, very slowly. Now, I can run ten laps around a 400-meter track at a speed of 6 without stopping," she shared.
The singer, known for her slender figure, also mentioned that she lost some weight after starting her running routine. "Some might ask what benefits I've gained from running. Initially, I lost some weight," she said. "After about 2-3 months, I noticed the weight starting to come off, and now I'm a bit lighter."
Despite the weight loss, Kang Soo-ji emphasized that her primary motivation for running is to improve her stamina. "Losing weight is something you can manage by eating well," she joked. "It's great to move within your limits. If you want to live energetically, it's never too late to start running."
Previously, Kang Soo-ji appeared on KBS's 'Problematic Men' and revealed that she weighed 42kg during her active years in the 1990s, surprising many. She also mentioned that she still maintains a weight in the 40kg range.
Kang Soo-ji was previously married to dentist Hwang Jung-bin in 2001, but they divorced after five years. In 2015, she met comedian Kim Gook-jin, two years her senior, on SBS's 'Burning Youth,' forming the beloved 'Chihuahua Couple.' The couple married three years after appearing on the show.
