TV CHOSUN's weekend mini-series 'Dr. Shin' delivered a shocking twist with Momo's eerie smile after undergoing a 'brain change' surgery performed by Jung I-chan on Baek Se-ra and Song Ji-in.
The second episode, aired on the 15th at 10:30 PM, intensified the unpredictability with a narrative that intertwined past and present, centered around Momo's (played by Baek Se-ra) scuba diving accident. Shin Ju-shin (played by Jung I-chan) was seen watching over Momo, who lay quietly in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber, when he was visited by his friend Ha Yong-jung (played by Ahn Woo-yeon). Shin Ju-shin lied to Ha Yong-jung about Momo's condition, claiming she was almost recovered, and suspiciously restricted visits to only Momo's mother.
Shin Ju-shin reminisced about the happy times he spent with Momo at a winter villa, reflecting on how he won her heart and became her lover. Despite Momo's initial cold demeanor, Shin Ju-shin impulsively proposed to her, saying, "I want to marry you," which eventually swayed Momo, who was touched by his genuine care.
Momo confided in her mother, Hyun Ran-hee (played by Song Ji-in), about her feelings for Shin Ju-shin, but Hyun Ran-hee opposed due to the 13-year age gap. Momo attempted to return the jewelry Shin Ju-shin's mother had left for her, but Shin Ju-shin expressed his strong affection, asking Momo to live a simple life with him. He later sought Hyun Ran-hee's help to support his relationship with Momo, which she reluctantly agreed to, despite harboring mysterious feelings for Shin Ju-shin.
Six months before Momo's accident, Ha Yong-jung reunited with Geum Bara (played by Joo Se-bin). Ha Yong-jung discovered that the journalist who interviewed him was Geum Bara, whom he affectionately called "baby" in his childhood. Despite Geum Bara's hidden feelings, Ha Yong-jung maintained a sibling-like boundary, leaving Geum Bara feeling bittersweet.
Meanwhile, James (played by Jeon No-min) showed Hyun Ran-hee a painting by Paul Kim (played by Ji Young-san), sparking curiosity as Geum Bara admired the painting and Paul Kim returned from Germany.
Back in the present, Momo struggled to open her eyes after the brain change surgery, triggering fragmented memories in Hyun Ran-hee's mind. Shin Ju-shin, watching the recovery room CCTV, rushed to Momo's side as she made a grotesque expression upon seeing Hyun Ran-hee on the adjacent bed.
