On the 5th episode of MBC's audition showdown 'The Winners', which aired on the 15th, the second intense battle for the trophy and advancement rights unfolded among the top singers. Amidst a series of breathtaking performances showcasing the singers' earnest desires, Lee Ye-jun emerged victorious in the head-to-head battle, following Son Seung-yeon.
The episode was filled with fierce competition and rivalry. Kim Ki-tae chose YB's 'I Am a Butterfly' for the first round against Son Seung-yeon, employing an unexpected technique to extend the seemingly concluded performance, earning a standing ovation from the audience and securing a win.
In the subsequent battle against Ahn Sung-hoon, Kim Ki-tae selected SG Wannabe's Kim Jin-ho's 'Family Photo', delivering a heartfelt tribute to his late mother whom he hadn't seen in over 20 years. The sincerity in Kim Ki-tae's performance moved the panel and judges to tears, propelling him to the final round.
However, Lee Ye-jun's overwhelming prowess as the top contender in the lineup was undeniable. She chose PSY's 'Lean On Me', filling the stage with flawless vocals and deep emotion. Even her competitors were in awe, stating, "It's perfect, like watching an AI with no mistakes."
Particularly, Lee Ye-jun's warm voice offered comfort, moving AlphaDriveOne's Sang-won, a former idol audition winner, to tears. He praised her, saying, "It's the best song I've heard in all my broadcasting activities."
Ultimately, Lee Ye-jun was crowned the final winner. Overcoming strong contender Kim Ki-tae, she couldn't hide her joy as she held the trophy. Lee Ye-jun expressed her emotions, saying, "Since 'The Voice Korea 2', I've never received a trophy or medal in my life." She added, "I'm so happy to be able to show more of my music in the future."
