KCM, who recently faced a departure crisis in Vietnam, is now battling a new challenge: creating and releasing an original song within 100 hours.
On KBS 2TV's 'Duet Across the Sea,' renowned ballad singer KCM embarks on a musical journey with famous Vietnamese artists. In Vietnam, KCM aims to gather an audience of 300 for a guerrilla concert and meets his duet partners, the genius guitarist and composer 'Minh Toc' and the high-note goddess 'Lam.' The couple, Minh Toc & Lam, are popular MZ artists among Vietnamese teenagers.
KCM, along with 'promotion fairy' Mickey Kwang-soo and Jo Maeryeok, were thrilled to collaborate with these famous Vietnamese artists. However, their excitement was short-lived as they faced a major crisis: the Vietnamese government granted filming permission but not for performances, making the guerrilla concert 'impossible.' Amidst the confusion, the production team presented a new mission: "You can't perform, but instead, release an original song within 100 hours." Additionally, they must showcase the song, doubling their workload from song creation to audience gathering.
Before diving into their musical journey, they headed to the traditional 'Ben Thanh Market' to soak in the Vietnamese atmosphere. There, Mickey Kwang-soo witnessed fresh sugarcane being juiced. Minh Toc explained, "Sugarcane is called 'Neou' and is a tool for the god of professions. Singers and broadcasters are forbidden to consume it, as it's believed to bring bad luck." KCM, wary of misfortune, turned away, but Mickey Kwang-soo, claiming his Korean bravery, ordered the juice. Minh Toc and Lam were shocked by Mickey's disregard for the taboo, and KCM remarked, "Some people just have to do what they're told not to."
Perhaps due to the 'curse of the sugarcane,' filming was halted amidst chaos, and KCM, Minh Toc & Lam were seen in a tense state. The curse seemed to manifest as torrential rain flooded the roads. In the serious atmosphere, Lam blamed Mickey for drinking the sugarcane juice, saying, "This is all your fault." KCM chimed in, "Why do you always do what you're told not to?" making Mickey the scapegoat.
Catch the unfolding drama on 'Duet Across the Sea,' airing on KBS 2TV at 9:50 PM on the 12th.
