On the third episode of MBN's massive audition program 'Legend of the Unknown - The Ranking War of Trot Men' (hereafter 'Legend of the Unknown'), which aired on the 11th, the 'Famous Selection' round was held for well-known contestants. Unlike the 'Unknown Selection' round, which was conducted as an absolute evaluation, the 'Famous Selection' was a relative evaluation. Out of 18 contestants, only 10 could survive the fierce ranking battle, and Hwang Yoon-seong confidently took the stage.
With a bright demeanor, Hwang Yoon-seong showcased his entertainment skills, saying, “After returning from the military, my friend Chan-won won an entertainment award, and manager Song Seong-ho is busy with events using my songs.” However, he expressed his earnest desire to make his name known, stating, “Most elders say, 'Oh, it's Chan-won's friend.' I came here to make my name known through 'Legend of the Unknown.'”
Choosing Kang Moon-kyung's 'Juldut Maldeut,' Hwang Yoon-seong concealed his playful side and exuded a deadly charm from the start of his performance. From gifting a tie to unbuttoning his shirt in a seductive manner, he delivered a captivating performance while maintaining a steady live vocal, capturing everyone's hearts in a short time.
Judge Shin Yoo commented on Hwang's performance, saying, “He has the power to give off happy energy. I look forward to seeing more.” Judge Son Tae-jin added, “Behind that smiling face, there are efforts and worries we can't see. He's a diligent friend. What he prepared was clearly visible, and I think good results will follow.”
Particularly, Hwang Yoon-seong managed to captivate even Kim Jin-ryong, one of the toughest top pros on 'Legend of the Unknown,' who remarked, “He has great star quality.” Hwang scored 111 out of 130 from the top pro panel, placing him in 10th position. However, with 146 out of 170 from the national pro panel, he achieved a total of 257 points, securing third place in a dramatic turnaround.
Hwang Yoon-seong, formerly of the boy group Romeo, previously gained recognition for his talent by finishing 11th on TV CHOSUN's 'Mr. Trot 1.'
