Musical actor Nam Kyung-joo (62) has shut down his social media accounts following allegations of sexual assault.
Last month, the Seoul Bangbae Police Station referred Nam Kyung-joo to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office without detention. He is accused of sexual assault by means of power, allegedly attempting the act against a woman identified as A last year. It is reported that A felt threatened and called the police emergency number, 112.
Although Nam Kyung-joo has denied the allegations, the police, after questioning him, concluded that there was enough evidence to forward the case to the prosecution last month.
As of the afternoon of the 11th, Nam Kyung-joo's social media accounts have been inaccessible. Previously active on social media, he has not made any public statements regarding the allegations and has abruptly shut down his accounts.
Nam Kyung-joo debuted in 1982 with the play 'Woyzeck' and has been a consistent presence on the musical stage. He is currently a lecturer at Hongik University's Graduate School of Performing Arts.
