On the episode of MBN's 'Hyun-yeok Gawang 3' aired on the 3rd, Lee Soo-yeon participated in the first round of the finals. Having showcased her overwhelming talent by securing the top spot in last week's semi-final mission, Lee chose Yoon Myung-sun's 'Father, Dad, Daddy' as her song for the 'New Song Battle' mission.
Previously, composer Yoon Myung-sun expressed a desire to work with Lee Soo-yeon, and she chose his song, stating, "The lyrics felt like they told my story, so I wanted to sing it with all my heart."
Lee Soo-yeon delivered 'Father, Dad, Daddy' with a deep and poignant emotion, sharing her personal story of losing her father at a young age, which moved the audience to tears.
Joo Hyun-mi, who watched the performance, praised, "A singer's ability is to convey their emotions and interpretations to the audience through a new song. Lee Soo-yeon's unique emotion and clear, pure high notes are remarkable. She possesses an astonishing level of skill." Composer Yoon Myung-sun added, "I felt from the beginning that Lee Soo-yeon is a sad person, and when a sad person sings a sad song, it provides true comfort to others. Lee has genuinely offered beautiful solace to those who listen to her music."
Despite receiving positive reviews for her performance of 'Father, Dad, Daddy', Lee faced a challenge with a score of 571, putting her advancement to the second round at risk. However, with the overwhelming support of the national judging panel, she made a dramatic comeback, tying for 7th place with Hong Ja, and secured her spot in the much-anticipated second round of the finals.
