The latest episode of MBC's 'Oh Eun-young Report: Family Hell' aired on the 23rd, featuring a family embroiled in conflict, known as the 'Battle Family.' The show, which highlights the deep wounds family members can inflict on each other, showcased the tumultuous life of a family living in constant fear of their aggressive younger daughter.
From the start of the episode, the younger daughter was seen hurling verbal abuse at her family, refusing to engage in even the most basic conversations. Despite being the one who reached out to the show, she reacted angrily to her mother's suggestion of a family hike, saying, "Why are you pretending now when you've been stabbing us in the heart all along?" Her mother, afraid to even open her daughter's door, hinted at the deep-seated family conflict.
The father shared a recording of the daughter's verbal assaults, which included swearing at family members and even lashing out at police officers called to the scene after she attacked her sister. He expressed his concern, saying, "My daughter is becoming increasingly violent. We need evidence in case something happens." The daughter, in turn, installed CCTV in the living room to document the family's behavior for counseling purposes.
The father believed his daughter had borderline personality disorder and had been prescribed medication to help manage her emotions, which she refused to take. A counselor even provided contact information for a hospital where she could be forcibly admitted. The father lamented, "We need to survive, and if we can't resolve this, she needs to be hospitalized. If possible, we should even consider removing her from the family registry."
However, the daughter's perspective was different. She claimed, "My parents were never there for me when I needed them. I started speaking harshly on purpose after closing my heart to the family."
After much persuasion from the production team, the 'Battle Family' gathered together. During this meeting, the daughter revealed that she had been sexually harassed at work in her early 20s, and her father had blamed her, saying, "If you had behaved properly, this wouldn't have happened. It's your fault." Even as she recounted this traumatic event, her father continued grilling meat and asking her sister to pass the vegetables, shocking viewers.
Dr. Oh Eun-young assessed the situation, stating, "Hospitalization won't help the younger daughter. Borderline personality disorder involves intense internal suffering, not just anger and sensitivity. If she only has issues with her family and not others, the solution lies within the family."
She highlighted the disparity in how the family and the daughter perceived the painful events, suggesting that this could have built up into deep resentment. She sharply questioned the father's tendency to avoid addressing the core issues, asking, "Do you always communicate like this?"
In the preview for the next episode, the daughter made a shocking confession, "I was beaten by my father to the point of bleeding." The teaser also showed her interacting warmly with another middle-aged couple, sparking curiosity about their identity and story.
