Lee Soo-geun shares heartfelt advice with a couple concerned about pregnancy and childbirth after surviving a life-threatening ordeal.
On the October 23rd episode of KBS Joy's 'Ask Anything', airing at 8:30 PM, a couple who faced a near-death experience due to acute cerebral hemorrhage during their honeymoon will appear.
Upon their appearance, Lee Soo-geun remarks, “I watched the documentary,” and admits, “I cried a lot watching it,” as he listens intently to their story.
The wife, who was healthy at the time, began experiencing headaches and abdominal pain upon arriving in Bali for their honeymoon. Despite taking local medication, her condition worsened, leading to vomiting and heart pain, prompting their return home.
Unable to endure a long flight, they sought help from her parents in Vietnam. Despite undergoing various tests, no issues were found, leading to repeated transfers to higher-level hospitals until she was diagnosed with acute myocarditis. The hospital warned of a low survival rate.
Lee Soo-geun asks, “Did you consider treatment in Korea?” The husband explains, “She had already lost consciousness and was in a coma in Vietnam, sustained by ECMO.”
Despite ECMO treatment, her consciousness did not return, leading to further tests and a cerebral hemorrhage diagnosis. They focused on treatment to achieve a level of recovery necessary for returning to Korea. Miraculously, she regained consciousness after three weeks in a coma and returned to Korea three months later.
Even after returning to Korea, treatment continued. Despite being unable to undergo rehabilitation due to paralysis, she was discharged 18 months after the cerebral hemorrhage, thanks to relentless effort.
Now, with significant recovery, they visit 'Ask Anything' due to concerns and anxiety about pregnancy and childbirth. Seo Jang-hoon advises, “Put those dreams aside for now,” adding, “Your wife's recovery is a miracle in itself; don't ask for more.”
Lee Soo-geun also encourages, “It's a bond that heaven has reconnected,” suggesting, “Fill your new journey with fresh memories from your honeymoon and prepare slowly.”
