On the October 19th episode of TV Chosun's 'Miss Trot 4', Lee Sona shared her personal family story for the first time.
After dropping from her usual first place to seventh in the first round, Lee Sona aimed for a comeback by choosing Choi Jin-hee's breakup song 'The Departed You'. Master Kim Hee-jae noted, "You seem to be someone who is not used to expressing emotions. It seems you've been hiding your feelings because of this story."
In the footage that followed, Lee Sona was seen tenderly caring for her ailing mother at home. Lee Sona revealed that her mother was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in her early 40s. She tearfully admitted, "I feel like my mother got this serious illness because of me."
Her mother encouraged her, saying, "Is it hard for you because I'm sick? I just wait for the day you appear on TV. Hearing you sing makes me so happy and it comforts me."
Lee Sona expressed her concerns, "My mom has been battling her illness for a long time, and my dad is also struggling, so his health is deteriorating. I'm worried that if my dad's condition worsens, I might not be able to handle it."
She continued, "Even if it's tough for me, I want to be someone who can take responsibility. I have to do really well. This is my last chance to show who Lee Sona really is," she said, expressing her determination for 'Miss Trot 4'.
Amidst the support of many, Lee Sona performed her song and successfully advanced to the semifinals, finishing in 8th place.
