Singer Eru has opened up about his daily life caring for his mother, Ok Kyung-yi, who is battling dementia.
On the October 16th episode of TV Chosun's 'Joseon's Love', viewers got a glimpse of Ok Kyung-yi for the first time in two years, as well as the family's caregiving efforts. Appearing in a wheelchair, Ok Kyung-yi looked noticeably frailer, with her hair now completely white, raising concerns among viewers.
Singer Tae Jin-ah shared a hopeful moment, saying, "20 days ago, my son was sitting in the living room when suddenly she called out, 'Eru, come to mom's side,'" recalling the moment his wife remembered their son's name. However, her doctor cautioned, "While meaningful responses can occur when her physical condition is good, it's challenging for cognitive functions to be consistently maintained."
The episode also revealed that Eru has moved in with his parents to help care for his mother. Tae Jin-ah and Eru take turns in caregiving, with Eru saying, "Today is mom's bath day," as he prepared for the task. The show depicted Eru comfortably assisting his mother with her bath, which she accepted with ease.
Eru's affectionate gesture of telling his mother, "Mom, you're the prettiest," and her response, "Pretty," captured the audience's attention.
Viewers expressed their support, commenting, "It's impressive to see the whole family involved in caregiving," "Eru's devotion to his mother is touching," and "It's fortunate that Tae Jin-ah has his son by his side."
