Sam Hammington Reveals Son William's Ice Hockey Talent on 'Immortal Songs'

Sam Hammington, 48, shares an update on his son William, 9, who is catching the attention of the Australian national team.

On January 14th at 6:05 PM, KBS2's 'Immortal Songs' will air its 744th episode, featuring a special 'Global Star' edition for the 2026 Lunar New Year. This special will showcase six 'global stars' who love Korea more than Koreans themselves, including Sam Hammington, Sayuri, Guzal, Daniel & Takuya, Angelina Danilova, and Leo, each bringing their unique performances to the stage, promising a festive celebration.

Sam Hammington's chemistry with host Kim Jun-hyun is particularly noteworthy. Hammington, who debuted on 'Gag Concert' in 2002 and became the first foreign comedian in Korea in 2005, shares a special bond with Kim Jun-hyun, who joined two years later. Kim recalls, "It was fascinating to see Hammington typing Korean scripts using the 'Hangul' program," drawing laughter from the audience.

Hammington reminisces about the days of 'Gag Concert,' mentioning the slang terms 'Naeng-dung' (cold dungle tea) and 'Tteu-dung' (hot dungle tea), to which Kim responds, "I remember making dungle tea for Hammington several times," evoking nostalgia.

Sam Hammington also shares exciting news about his sons William and Bentley, who became 'national babies' through 'The Return of Superman.' He reveals, "William is quite skilled at ice hockey, to the point where the Australian national team has reached out," surprising everyone.

Hammington admits, "I don't particularly enjoy singing, but I wanted to show my kids that I'm willing to take on challenges. However, I haven't told them I'm appearing on 'Immortal Songs.' If it doesn't go well, I'll block the video. I don't want to be teased for life," he says with determination.

Sam Hammington will perform a retro funk rendition of Sobangcha's 'Last Night's Story.' Before his performance, he playfully competes with his close friend Sayuri, heating up the atmosphere. When Hammington boasts, "The producers said I'm in the top tier," Sayuri and the other participants humorously claim, "They told me the same," turning the set into a sea of laughter.
