Channel A's weekend drama 'I've Got a Baby' is making waves with its fast-paced storyline. The show grabbed attention from its very first episode with a shocking pregnancy plot, starting with a 1.0% viewership rating on its premiere on the 17th of last month. Although it hit a low of 0.9% in its fifth episode, it has consistently maintained ratings in the 1% range since then.
'I've Got a Baby' is a reverse romantic comedy about two individuals who vowed never to marry but find themselves entangled after a one-night stand. The drama stars Choi Jin-hyuk as Doo-joon and Oh Yeon-seo as Hee-won, whose strong performances and undeniable chemistry have been a source of excitement for viewers.
The drama has achieved significant international success, ranking first in weekly viewership in regions including North America, Europe, Oceania, and Southeast Asia during its second week on the Asian entertainment-focused global OTT platform Rakuten Viki. It also topped the viewership rankings for four consecutive weeks on Japan's U-NEXT, which broadcasts the show simultaneously with Korea. Additionally, it ranked second in the overall drama category on Taiwan's leading OTT platform, friDay Video, from January 1 to January 31, with an impressive rating of 4.8 out of 5, showcasing its global appeal.
The show's popularity is fueled by the evolving romance between Doo-joon and Hee-won, which began with a one-night stand and is now blossoming into love. The drama's fast-paced plot and captivating endings have also contributed to its buzz.
In the first episode, Doo-joon's narration, "After that day, the woman who turned my world upside down, the woman I've been searching for, is pregnant," set the stage as he and Hee-won reunited at an obstetrics clinic. In the second episode, Doo-joon proposed an official relationship to Hee-won, saying, "Let's try love for real." The third episode featured Hee-won's confession of wanting to have the baby, to which Doo-joon responded, "Now that you've decided to have it, I don't want to stop," achieving a peak viewership rating of 2.4% in the Seoul metropolitan area according to Nielsen Korea.
In the seventh episode, Hee-won confessed her feelings to Doo-joon, saying, "Don't go on blind dates. I like you," leading to a deep and sweet kiss between the two. The eighth episode ended with a cliffhanger as Team Leader Bang (played by Jung Soo-young) asked Hee-won, "Manager Jang, are you pregnant?" after instructing her to test a new product, leaving viewers in suspense. With only four episodes remaining, anticipation is high for how Doo-joon and Hee-won's romantic journey will unfold.
