Renowned entrepreneur and television personality Baek Jong-won is mourning the loss of his mother, Lee Kyung-sook, who passed away on the 10th at the age of 86, according to The Born Korea. Actress So Yoo-jin, Baek's wife, is also grieving the loss of her mother-in-law.
The funeral will be held at Room 31 of the Seoul St. Mary's Hospital Funeral Hall on the morning of the 11th. The burial is scheduled for the 13th at 8 a.m., with the final resting place in Seogye-yang-ri, Shinyang-myeon, Yesan-gun, Chungnam.
In 2022, Baek Jong-won expressed his deep affection for his mother on his YouTube channel, stating, "Just 30 to 40 years ago, the perception of restaurants was not good. When I decided to start a business, my grandparents were strongly opposed. My mother endured hardships because of me, and I am truly grateful and sorry to her."
In a 2019 episode of 'The Joy of Conversation 2,' Baek shared, "The rumor that I benefited from having good parents is the most unfair, but I don't deny it because I did receive help from them, especially when it comes to food."
Baek also mentioned his father's unique love for gourmet food, recalling, "When I was young, we would visit 7 to 8 different restaurants in one outing because of my father's picky taste. Naturally, my mother's cooking skills had to be exceptional. Even on family trips, we would seek out delicious food."
When asked if the family motto was 'Eat well, even if it's just one meal,' Baek replied, "It wasn't a family atmosphere, just my father alone," and reminisced, "My mother went through a lot."
Baek Jong-won married actress So Yoo-jin in 2013, and they have one son and two daughters together.
