Actress Kim Jung-hwa to Star in Play 'Schumann' and Renews Contract with Kenneth Company


Actress Kim Jung-hwa has confirmed her role in the play 'Schumann.'

Set in Düsseldorf, Germany, in 1853, 'Schumann' is based on the true story of the legendary composer Robert Schumann, his wife Clara Schumann, and the young genius Johannes Brahms. The play intricately portrays the artistic ambitions and profound love between the three musicians, receiving much acclaim during its premiere.

Kim Jung-hwa will portray Clara Schumann, a pioneering figure who proved her talent in the male-dominated classical music world. In this production, she aims to depict Clara's inner strength and independence as an artist, beyond just being 'someone's wife.'

Ahead of the opening, Kim Jung-hwa expressed her excitement, saying, “I am thrilled to meet everyone again through the beautiful music and poignant love story of the play 'Schumann.' We are working hard with a fantastic cast to create a great production, so please look forward to it.”

In addition to her theatrical work, Kim Jung-hwa has renewed her contract with her current agency, Kenneth Company, continuing a relationship built on deep trust since their exclusive contract in 2023. She plans to engage in more stable and diverse activities.

Since her debut in 2000, Kim Jung-hwa has starred in numerous hit productions, including 'New Nonstop' and 'Stove League.' Her announcement of a return to the stage alongside her contract renewal has generated anticipation for her future endeavors.

Kim Jung-hwa will perform in 'Schumann' from February 14 to April 12 at The Good Theater in Daehangno, Seoul.

Meanwhile, Kim Jung-hwa married CCM singer and composer Yoo Eun-sung in 2013, and they have two sons. The couple appeared on SBS's 'Same Bed, Different Dreams 2 - You Are My Destiny' in 2023, where they revealed Yoo Eun-sung's brain cancer diagnosis. Yoo Eun-sung stepped down from his position as a professor in the Department of Practical Music at Sungkyul University, where he had worked for eight years.
