YouTuber Oliver Sam has announced the passing of his stepfather.
On October 9, Oliver Sam shared on his YouTube channel's community board, "Last Friday afternoon, Grandpa Brad passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family." Brad, his stepfather, passed away on October 6.
Oliver Sam expressed, "Although it was winter, that day was unusually warm and sunny, the kind of weather Grandpa Brad loved the most. He completed his long journey in the most 'him' way, basking in the sunlight he adored and listening to the laughter of children." He added, "Above all, our family is immensely grateful to have been by his side in his final moments."
Oliver Sam continued, "I sincerely thank everyone who prayed for Grandpa Brad and supported our family's journey with warm eyes. For the time being, we plan to spend time with family, reminiscing about Grandpa Brad and finding peace." He also wished, "May your homes always be filled with peace and warmth. Thank you."
Oliver Sam shared photos capturing moments with Brad and the family. Particularly touching is Brad's affectionate gaze towards his granddaughter.
Brad was Oliver Sam's stepfather and passed away after battling terminal pancreatic cancer. Previously, Oliver Sam had shared Brad's battle with the illness, highlighting the realities of the American healthcare system and the burden of high medical costs. He had considered returning to Korea but decided against it, considering his mother's situation, who would be left alone in the U.S.
Oliver Sam runs a YouTube channel with approximately 2.26 million subscribers. He was formerly an English instructor in Korea and is now a YouTuber. His content, which presents Korean culture and daily life from a foreigner's perspective, has gained popularity. Known for his fluent Korean and candid storytelling, he shares insights on cultural and language differences between Korea and the U.S., marriage, and parenting. In 2016, he married a Korean woman and they have two daughters. He currently resides in the U.S. with his family.
