Korean broadcaster Jang Sung-kyu has decided against having a third child after a challenging babysitting experience.
On October 6, the YouTube channel 'Dambi's Hand' released a video titled 'Jang Sung-kyu's Real Reaction to Babysitting a Daughter for the First Time'.
In the video, Son Dam-bi invited her childhood friend Jang Sung-kyu to her home, asking him to watch her daughter, Hae-i, for two hours while she went to exercise.
Meeting Hae-i for the first time, Jang expressed confidence, saying, "I think she likes me more than Kyu-hyuk," but soon admitted, "I haven't watched my two sons for more than 10 minutes a day. I'm not a very involved dad; my wife and the nanny handle most of the childcare."
After Son Dam-bi left, Hae-i began to cry uncontrollably. Jang struggled to entertain her and failed to calm her down. While hurriedly preparing formula, he humorously admitted, "I guess a third child is not an option. I feel so sorry. What did I do wrong?"
As Hae-i continued to cry at the sight of him, Jang confessed, "I feel like crying too. I don't know where it all went wrong," and eventually called Son Dam-bi, asking her to return.
Amidst the chaos, Son Dam-bi laughed, while Jang lamented, "What should I do? I'm sorry. My sons seemed to like me." The production crew, who are also fathers, humorously pointed out, "It was wrong from the start."
Feeling guilty for Hae-i's continuous crying, Jang expressed, "I feel like I've committed a crime. She must have been very stressed. I couldn't fulfill my role as an uncle today. This was the hardest recording I've done in the past five years. I feel inadequate as a father."
He continued, "I thought I could open a child's heart because I've spent time with kids, but I was arrogant. I was lacking."
Jang concluded by saying, "I'll come back when Hae-i is twenty. Let's meet again in good health and have fun. I'll prepare better to open Hae-i's heart. Let's go to a kids' cafe together."
Meanwhile, Jang Sung-kyu married his elementary school classmate and first love, Lee Yoo-mi, in 2014, and they have two sons together.
