Comedian Kim Young-hee Opens Up About Family Struggles and Financial Hardships
Comedian Kim Young-hee has shared her poignant family story.

On the October 20th episode of KBS1's 'Morning Yard,' Kim Young-hee and Jung Bum-kyun appeared as guests.

During the show, Kim Young-hee revealed, "Our family fell apart during the IMF crisis. I did every part-time job imaginable. I was pursuing my dreams, so I made the selfish decision to move to Seoul without a plan."

Kim also shared her struggles with student loans, saying, "I couldn't afford tuition, so I took out loans but had no means to repay them. I lived as a credit delinquent, and it wasn't until long after I became a comedian that I managed to resolve it."

She added, "My mom feels both sorry and proud. She's not one to give compliments easily, but sometimes she tells me, 'Thank you for enduring,' which warms my heart."

Meanwhile, in 2019, Kim Young-hee was embroiled in a 'debt controversy.' The accuser claimed, "Kim Young-hee's father owed me 60 million won and never repaid it." Kim responded, "I haven't been in contact with my father for 20 years and was unaware of the situation," and subsequently stepped down from all her ongoing programs.
