Actor Kim Kap-soo shares his thoughts on the conclusion of 'Pro Bono'. Known for frequently portraying characters that meet their demise, Kim has earned the nickname 'Death Specialist Actor'.
Kim Kap-soo played the role of Oh Kyu-jang, the founder of the country's largest law firm, Oh & Partners, in the tvN weekend drama 'Pro Bono', which concluded on November 11.
On November 12, through his agency F&F Entertainment, Kim expressed, "It's hard to believe that 'Pro Bono' has already ended. Although I joined midway through the drama, I was happy throughout the filming to complete a wonderful project with great actors and staff."
He added, "I sincerely thank all the viewers who loved 'Pro Bono' until the end. As much as you have shown interest and support, I will continue to present good performances. I wish you all a happy New Year in 2026."
Kim Kap-soo's presence as Oh Kyu-jang shone until the end. In episode 11, the true nature of Oh Kyu-jang, known as the 'living legend of the legal world', was revealed. A recording was released showing his involvement in the trial of Chairman Jang Hyun-bae (played by Song Young-chang).
In the recording, Oh Kyu-jang directly contacts Shin Joong-seok (played by Lee Moon-sik) to check the trial's progress and expresses concerns about Jang Hyun-bae's arrest, exerting pressure. His unrestrained wielding of power outside the courtroom and manipulation of judicial personnel shocked viewers.
In the final episode, he denied allegations of trial interference, calling himself a 'mediator' rather than a lobbyist. Oh Kyu-jang claimed, "Someone has to play the role behind the scenes, getting their hands dirty for the national interest," and offered Kang Da-wit (played by Jung Kyung-ho) a position as a Supreme Court Justice.
This offer backfired. The conversations with Kang Da-wit and the contract with Jang Hyun-bae were all revealed, leading to Oh Kyu-jang's departure from Oh & Partners.
Kim Kap-soo played a pivotal villain wielding immense power in 'Pro Bono', driving the drama with his portrayal of a pragmatic power player and his downfall.
