Shin Se-kyung Shines as Translator and Culinary Guide During 'Human Intelligence' Overseas Filming

Shin Se-kyung revealed her behind-the-scenes role as a translator and culinary guide during the overseas location shoot of 'Human Intelligence'.

On the 12th, a production briefing for the film 'Human Intelligence' (directed by Ryoo Seung-wan) was held at Lotte Cinema Konkuk University Entrance in Jayang-dong, Seoul. Director Ryoo Seung-wan, along with actors Jo In-sung, Park Jung-min, Park Hae-joon, and Shin Se-kyung, attended the event.

'Human Intelligence' is a story set in Vladivostok, where secrets and truths are submerged in the icy sea, and individuals with different objectives clash. It is the latest work by director Ryoo Seung-wan, known for the 'Veteran' series and 'Escape from Mogadishu'. The title 'Human Intelligence' refers to intelligence gathering through human sources.

Jo In-sung plays the role of Cho, an agent of the National Intelligence Service of South Korea. Park Jung-min portrays Park Geon, a team leader of North Korea's State Security Department. Park Hae-joon takes on the role of Hwang Chi-seong, the North Korean Consul General in Vladivostok. Shin Se-kyung appears as Chae Sun-hwa, a North Korean restaurant worker who is approached by Cho to become an informant.

Returning to the big screen after 12 years since 'Tazza: The Hidden Card' (2014), Shin Se-kyung expressed her excitement, saying, "I'm thrilled to be part of a great project with a wonderful director, senior actors, and colleagues." She added, "Audiences will see a new side of me on the big screen. They can look forward to discovering my unique presence."

Shin Se-kyung assisted her fellow actors with her excellent English skills. Jo In-sung shared, "Se-kyung is great at English, which allowed us to enjoy food tours." Park Jung-min added humorously, "We even went to local gyms and blended in like locals."

Shin Se-kyung commented, "There were moments when I was at a loss for words, but I had a great time. While everyone faced challenges, I found joy in staying with the team in one city." Jo In-sung expressed gratitude, saying, "Se-kyung helped with translation during gatherings with foreign actors. I felt like I should give her some pocket money," he joked.

The extended overseas location shoot brought the cast closer together. Jo In-sung noted, "Filming abroad is a battle with homesickness and loneliness, but it strengthens bonds among the crew. We had the best catering service from home, which was comforting." He continued, "During breaks, we cooked meals for the staff, which brought us closer. We prepared meals for about 30 to 60 people." Park Jung-min humorously questioned the discrepancy, to which Jo In-sung clarified, "We aimed for 60 but ended up with around 30." Park Jung-min suggested, "It was probably around 40." Jo In-sung made chicken soup, Shin Se-kyung prepared fried rice, Park Jung-min handled shopping, and Park Hae-joon took care of ingredient preparation.

'Human Intelligence' is set to be released on February 11th.
