Miyaho Honors Hong Kong Fire Victims with Song Lyric Change at 2025 MAMA Awards

The group Miyaho has altered their lyrics to pay tribute to the victims of the Hong Kong fire tragedy.

On the 28th, the '2025 MAMA Awards' took place at the Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong.

During the event, Miyaho performed a mashup of 'Hands Up' and 'Burning Up.' However, in light of the recent fire incident in Hong Kong, they changed the lyrics from 'Burning Up' to 'Turn It Up' to avoid the connotation of 'burning.'

On the afternoon of the 26th (local time), a massive fire broke out in a high-rise apartment complex in the Tai Po area of northern Hong Kong. The fire resulted in over 100 deaths, more than 50 injuries, and around 200 people missing.

In response, the MAMA organizers stated, "We aim to share in the sorrow and provide a moment of remembrance, while also contributing to victim support through donations. We believe in the healing and unifying power of music," adding, "We are carefully preparing the overall stage setup and proceedings to deliver a performance that conveys comfort and hope rather than extravagant displays."
