Lee Sun-bin Faces Breakup and Career Struggles in New Drama 'To The Moon'

Lee Sun-bin's character receives a breakup notice from her boyfriend.

The first episode of MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama 'To The Moon,' which aired on the 19th, depicted the challenging work life of the 'Munanis' trio: Jung Da-hae (played by Lee Sun-bin), Kang Eun-sang (played by Ra Mi-ran), and Kim Ji-song (played by Jo Ah-ram).

The premiere, subtitled 'The Red Flavor of Ordinary Women,' began at the regular employee conversion interview at Maron Confectionery. Da-hae, who was smoothly progressing through the interview, experienced a bizarre incident where she fainted after being stung by a bee and encountered her 'future self' while unconscious. The warning, "Even regular employees have their own struggles. You'll continue to live like a pushover," was shocking. However, driven by the desperate thought that "the unemployed have nowhere to collect condolence money," Da-hae woke up and completed the interview with a swollen face, successfully securing a regular position.

Three years later, Da-hae's work life followed the 'pushover prophecy' to the letter. She earned the nickname 'scribble' simply because her name was confused with that of a new hire, Jung Da-hee (played by Hong Seung-hee). Thanks to the easygoing team leader Go Dae-young (played by Eum Moon-suk), she had to endure the ordeal of climbing 14 flights of stairs in five minutes to make it to meetings on time.

The only thing Da-hae looked forward to, the company evaluation, once again rated her as 'Munan' (ordinary). Eun-sang and Ji-song, also non-regular hires, shared the same fate, recording 'Munan' for three consecutive years. To make matters worse, Da-hae received an unexpected breakup notice from her boyfriend, Lee Byung-jun (played by Kim Jung-jin), on her birthday. His words, "Both you and I were born with dirt spoons. If we get married, we'll have to work even harder than when we're single. Can you handle that? You're a non-regular hire," were enough to crush Da-hae's pride.

The bigger shock came when it was revealed that Byung-jun started a rebound relationship immediately after the breakup. Eun-sang and Ji-song couldn't hold back. The 'Munanis' performed a spirited dance and sang a parody of 'Red Flavor' with the lyrics "Lee Byung-jun! You're such a jerk!" in front of Byung-jun, delivering a satisfying 'revenge dance.' Da-hae added a final touch to her revenge by throwing a live eel at Byung-jun's face, declaring, "Did you think I was the only one who missed you? I wasn't satisfied with you either!"

Later, as Da-hae blew out the candles on her birthday cake, she resignedly said, "Why is life so tough? I don't expect anything. This life seems beyond recovery, like a lost cause." Shortly after, as Da-hae and Ji-song slipped on an icy road while trying to catch the last train, Eun-sang, watching them, made an unexpected proposal, "Guys, let's do cryptocurrency!" Eun-sang's determined words closed the first episode, leaving viewers curious about how the trio's life-turning story will unfold.
