The highly anticipated reunion romance featuring Song Joong-ki and Chun Woo-hee has finally been unveiled. The premiere of JTBC's Friday series 'My Youth' recorded viewership ratings of 2.9% for the first episode and 2.8% for the second.
In 'My Youth,' Song Joong-ki and Chun Woo-hee portray Sun Woo-hae and Sung Jae-yeon, respectively, who were each other's 'light' and 'first love.' Their reunion after 15 years is filled with excitement, and the behind-the-scenes cuts released on the 9th further heighten anticipation for the series.
Song Joong-ki delivers a compelling performance as Sun Woo-hae, a former child star turned florist who once burned brightly but too quickly. Having learned the ways of the adult world at a young age, Woo-hae spent much of his youth struggling to make ends meet, only to start living a normal life later than most. Song's portrayal of Woo-hae's solitary yet resilient life has been met with critical acclaim.
Particularly, Song Joong-ki captures the emotional turmoil of Woo-hae as he reunites with his first love, Sung Jae-yeon, adding depth to the character's emotional journey. Viewers are eager to see how Song will navigate Woo-hae's pursuit of this rekindled romance.
Chun Woo-hee also shines as Sung Jae-yeon, who experiences a whirlwind of emotions upon unexpectedly encountering her first love, Woo-hae. From her playful demeanor when confronting Woo-hae, who once caused her heartbreak, to her candid expressions of longing, Chun's performance adds layers to her character.
Director Lee Sang-yeop's collaboration with the cast promises an engaging narrative, with Chun Woo-hee hinting at Jae-yeon's evolving expressions of emotion. The chemistry between Song Joong-ki and Chun Woo-hee, highlighted by their charming smiles, is sure to captivate audiences as the series progresses.
The backstory of Sun Woo-hae and Sung Jae-yeon is further enriched by Nam Da-reum and Jeon So-young, who portray the characters' younger selves. Nam Da-reum adds depth to Woo-hae's character, who couldn't express his true feelings during his lonely twenties, while Jeon So-young brings to life the youthful exuberance of the 19-year-old Jae-yeon.
The production team of 'My Youth' teased that episodes 3 and 4 will delve deeper into Woo-hae's pursuit of Jae-yeon, promising a heartwarming evolution in their relationship.
