Actor Jung Sung-il expressed the challenges he faced due to the extensive dialogue in 'The Murderer Report'.
On the 28th, a press screening for the film 'The Murderer Report' was held at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Director Jo Young-jun, along with actors Cho Yeo-jeong, Jung Sung-il, and Kim Tae-han, attended the event.
'The Murderer Report' follows the story of veteran journalist Sun-joo (played by Cho Yeo-jeong), who is eager for an exclusive scoop. She receives an interview request from psychiatrist Young-hoon (played by Jung Sung-il), who confesses to a series of murders. Cho Yeo-jeong plays Baek Sun-joo, a social affairs reporter who agrees to the interview with the murderer for the sake of a scoop. Jung Sung-il portrays Lee Young-hoon, the psychiatrist and serial killer who initiates the murder confession interview game.
Reflecting on his role, Jung Sung-il shared, "It was an energy-draining but enjoyable shoot." He humorously added, "There was a barn next to the set, and every morning, the smell from the barn would wake me up as I dragged my tired body to the set."
Both actors memorized their lines in full. Jung Sung-il joked, "The amount of dialogue made me want to kill the director. I wondered if he expected us to do this sober. It was absurd, so we had no choice but to memorize everything."
Jung Sung-il also expressed gratitude towards Cho Yeo-jeong. He stated, "Young-hoon's character was greatly influenced by Sun-joo. Depending on how she approached him, Young-hoon's range of change was significant. Much of the emphasis and subtlety in my lines were crafted on set thanks to Yeo-jeong and the director."
'The Murderer Report' is set to be released on September 5th.
