Director Lee Sang-geun has expressed his confidence in Yoona for their latest film, 'Pretty Crazy'.
Recently, at a café in Sogyeok-dong, Seoul, director Lee Sang-geun discussed his new comedy film, 'Pretty Crazy'. The movie follows the story of a young, unemployed man named Gil-gu, played by Ahn Bo-hyun, who gets caught up in a bizarre part-time job of monitoring Seon-ji, portrayed by Yoona, who transforms into a devil every night.
Having previously worked with Yoona on the successful film 'Exit', director Lee was eager to collaborate with her again. He shared, "When you have good memories with someone, it's easier to make plans, like having a drink together. Although I don't drink," he laughed. "I have fond memories with Yoona. Film sets can be tough, but I wanted to work with good people and positive energy. I thought Yoona might agree to join because of our good past experiences. I wrote the script with her in mind, and thankfully, she found it unique and accepted the offer," he added gratefully.
In the film, Seon-ji is a wild character who eats cakes from convenience stores and jumps into the Han River. Director Lee acknowledged the challenging scenes for Yoona, saying, "Acting while eating and speaking with food in your mouth is difficult, but she did it without hesitation. There were scenes where I thought, 'Should she really go that far?' but she did them well," he appreciated. "I didn't explicitly pressure her, but maybe there was some subtle pressure. Still, Yoona enjoyed filming," he joked.
When asked if he was worried Yoona might decline the role, director Lee replied, "I believe in finding the right timing and connection. Like in stocks, there's a time to buy and sell. Relationships are similar; it's about waiting for the right moment. But I was more than 80% sure she would accept," he laughed.
'Pretty Crazy' is set to release on the 13th.
