Lee Dong-wook and Namkoong Min Face Off in Friday Night Drama Showdown

Lee Dong-wook and Namkoong Min are set to compete head-to-head as Lee's new drama 'The Good Guy' premieres, going up against the concluding episodes of 'Our Movie' in the same time slot.

JTBC's new Friday series 'The Good Guy' is an emotional noir featuring Lee Dong-wook as Park Seok-cheol, the eldest grandson of a gangster family with a surprisingly tender heart, and Lee Sung-kyung as Kang Mi-young, his first love who dreams of becoming a singer. The drama promises to deliver a warm and poignant story of two people who risk everything for their loved ones, overcoming harsh realities to pursue their dreams.

Ahead of its premiere on the 18th, 'The Good Guy' released stills capturing the reunion of Park Seok-cheol and Kang Mi-young. The images depict their everyday lives as they chase their dreams.

Park Seok-cheol's appearance in a creative writing class is intriguing. Despite his rough and rugged demeanor, his eyes are serious as he presents his poetry. Meanwhile, aspiring singer Kang Mi-young captivates with her audition, her fingers carefully pressing each piano key.

The two characters, living their separate lives, fatefully reunite in an unexpected moment. They recognize each other at a hospital while visiting Park Seok-hee (played by Ryu Hye-young). Their disbelief quickly turns into smiles filled with excitement, as they reconnect over cherished childhood memories. Viewers are eager to see how their reunion will impact their lives.

Lee Dong-wook commented, "This drama will have a different pace and style compared to the fast-changing times. I hope viewers can take a moment to relax and feel the importance of family while watching." Lee Sung-kyung added, "I believe viewers will enjoy the nostalgic emotions. It's a work filled with stories of dreams, love, family, and friendship. Please show it lots of love, as director Song Hae-sung and the talented cast have worked hard to create something special."

'The Good Guy' will air two consecutive episodes starting at 8:50 PM, overlapping with SBS's 'Our Movie,' which airs at 9:50 PM.

Starring Namkoong Min and Jeon Yeo-bin, 'Our Movie' tells the story of Jae-ha, a film director with no future, and Da-eum, an actress with no tomorrow, exploring a love that cannot be postponed. Despite its classic melodrama theme, the show has struggled with ratings, hovering around 3%.

With episodes 9 and 10 achieving ratings of 3.8% and 3.9% respectively last week, it remains to be seen if 'Our Movie' can boost its viewership in the face of competition from 'The Good Guy.' The 12-episode series will conclude on the 19th.
