The trend of one-person agencies is gaining momentum among top-tier artists who wish to express their unique philosophies and creativity. With the advent of accessible promotional tools, artists can now manage their careers independently, making it an attractive option for those seeking greater control over their professional paths.
The group Koyote has been operating 'KYT Entertainment' since 2012, with all three members serving as representatives. Kim Jong-min even founded 'Shinba Entertainment' for his solo endeavors.
Trot singer Song Ga-in founded 'GainDal Entertainment' last year, indicating her intent to focus solely on her projects without signing other artists.
The trend extends to idol groups as well. Highlight (formerly Beast) members established 'Around Us' in 2016 after leaving Cube Entertainment. Similarly, Infinite members launched 'Infinite Company' in May 2023, with leader Kim Sung-kyu as the sole CEO.
Girl groups are also embracing this trend. After not renewing their contracts with YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK members Jisoo, Jennie, and Lisa, except Rosé, have established their own agencies: 'Bliss Entertainment,' 'ODD ATELIER,' and 'LLOUD,' respectively. Former SISTAR member Hyolyn has been managing her career through 'Bridge Entertainment' since 2017.
Other artists like Kim Wan-sun (KWSunflower), Heo Young-saeng (YS Company), Jang Woo-hyuk (WH CREATIVE), Young Tak (Tak Studio), Eric Nam (Eric Nam Company), and entertainer Jung Joon-ha (Yamujin Entertainment) have also ventured into establishing their own agencies.
