Ong Seong-wu, the singer and actor born in 1995, is set to make a significant impact on Mnet's 'BOYS II PLANET'.
According to TENASIA's exclusive report on the 28th, Ong Seong-wu will appear in the second season of 'Boys Planet', which is scheduled to premiere in July.
A broadcast insider stated, "Ong Seong-wu has firsthand experience debuting through an Mnet survival show, which will allow him to offer practical advice and support to the trainee contestants. Having consistently received love from the public over his nine-year career, he is well-positioned to empathize with the trainees."
The insider added, "Fans often feel a sense of vicarious satisfaction and pride when former audition program trainees take on roles as hosts or judges. We invite viewers to tune in to see what heartfelt moments Ong Seong-wu will bring to this season and what role he will play."
Ong Seong-wu graduated from Hanlim Multi Art School's Practical Dance Department and majored in Acting Arts at Dong Seoul University. He is an entertainer with a solid foundation in both dance and acting. In 2017, he debuted with Wanna One after finishing fifth in 'Produce 101' Season 2, where he served as the main dancer and lead vocalist.
Initially introduced as a Fantagio trainee, Ong Seong-wu quickly gained attention for his striking features, earning the nickname 'Ongvid' (a play on his name and 'David', as in Michelangelo's sculpture) among fans. After Wanna One disbanded in January 2019, he shifted his focus more towards acting.
Ong Seong-wu began his acting career with the drama 'At Eighteen' in 2019 and has steadily built his filmography with roles in 'More Than Friends' and 'Strong Woman Kang Nam-soon'. He has expanded his acting repertoire with films like 'Seoul Vibe' and 'Life is Beautiful', showcasing his versatility as an actor.
Having completed his military service as a sergeant in the 6th Infantry Division last October, Ong Seong-wu is embarking on new challenges. He will make his theater debut next month as the lead role of Will Shakespeare in the play 'Shakespeare in Love'. He also participated in his first dubbing project for the Christmas animation film 'Niko: Beyond the Northern Lights' last year. As Ong Seong-wu continues to explore new genres and fields, anticipation builds for his role in 'BOYS II PLANET'.
